A slow-growing tree or shrub from Madagascar, this species reaches
15 ft (4.5 m) in hot climates.
Its narrow, sword-like leaves have red margins.
The cultivar Tricolor with a cream stripe and red edge is commonly
grown as a house plant.
This species tolerates some shade and quite low winter temperatures
but not frost.
Cultivation: Outdoors, dracaenas need warm-temperate to subtropical
conditions, full sun or part-shade and well-drained soil.
Cut leggy plants back to almost soil level in spring.
Propagate from seed or by air-layering or from cuttings .
Watch out for mealybugs.
