This tropical African species has rather narrow dull green leaves with a pattern of paler veins. The flowers are borne in spikes with broad, spiny-edged bracts and are orange in colored.
Cultivation: They need to be watered freely when in full growth.
Shoots that have flowered should be cut back by about half to promote branching.
Propagation is from seed or cuttings .
