This is a magnificent plant from Indonesia .
The oblong leaves to 3 ft (1 m) long are borne on 20 ft (6 m),
bamboo-like leaf stalks.
In spring a cluster of small, gold-rimmed, scarlet flowers is
embedded in a waxy, pyramid-like cone of pink-edged, bright red
bracts, sometimes opening to 10 in (25 cm) across.
The inflorescence is borne on a 5 ft (1.5 m) leafless stem.
Flowering colors: Pink, Red, Scarlet
Cultivzation: These tropical plants need a moist, humus-rich soil in
full sun or part-shade.
Water well during growth and less when dormant.
Propagate from seed or by division.
