A giant climber from Mexico to Colombia and Venezuela valued for its
huge flowers and ability to cover very large areas, this is a
rampant, woody vine growing to 30 ft (9 m) or more and requiring
plenty of space and a sturdy support.
They have yellow flowers, up to 10 in (25 cm) across and with a
purplish stripe down the center of each petal.
It tolerates wind, dry conditions and salt spray, so it is an
excellent plant for seaside gardens.
Cultivation: Plant in full sun in fertile, well-drained soil and
water freely during the growing season. Thin out crowded stems after
flowering.
Propagate from cuttings. |
