Found in Colombia at elevations of 1200 to 1800 meters as a medium to large sized, warm to cool growing terrestrial with dark green, tapering pseudobulbs with small spines after leaf-fall and carrying 3, plicate, leaves that blooms in the spring in Colombia and Summer in cultivcaation in the north on to 6, erect, 6" [15 cm] long, single flowered inflroescence with 3 to 4 sheathing bracts adn a cucullate floral bract that is longer than the ovary and carrying a very fragrant flower akin to wintergreen.
