Common Name The Herb-Like Calanthe - In China Xi Nan Xia Ji Lan

Flower Size .8 to 1.2" [2 to 3 cm]

Found in China, Taiwan, eastern Himalayas and Vietnam in moist places in forests and along ravines at elevations of 1300 to 2600 meters as a medium to large sized, warm to cold growing epiphyte with short fusiform, curved, about 5 internoded pseudobulbs carrying 3 to 5, broadly to narrowly elliptic, acuminate, petiolate base leaves that blooms in the late spring and summer on a terminal, 12 to 16.8" [20 to 42 cm] long, laxly 6 to 20 flowered, pubescent, ridged inflorescence with oblong-ovate, acute, adpressed, distant bracts and lanceoalte, acute floral bracts and carrying flowers that are not fragrant.
