Found from Central Mexico south to Nicaragua as a small sized,
hot to cool growing epiphyte or lithophyte that is related to E.
diota and E. meliosma and occurs at elevations of 500 to 2000 meters
in oak-pine and oak forests with clustered, conic-ovoid, to rounded
pseudobulb carrying 1 to 3, apical, very stiff, acute to obtuse,
gradually narrows below into the cuneate base leaves that blooms in
the spring and summer on an apical, 10" [25 cm] to 40" [1m] long,
branched, many flowered inflorescence.
