One of the most miniature of the Encyclia, this Brazilian, unifoliate, epiphyte is found on tree trunks in the Atlantic coastal forest of Bahia to Sao Paulo at elevations of 10 to 500 meters with conic pseudobulbs enveloped basally by evanescent sheaths and carrying a single, apical, thin, smooth, linear leaf and blooms with more than one per pseudobulb, on a terminal, to 6" [15 cm] long, racemose, few flowered inflorescence occuring in nature in the spring and in cultivation late summer to early fall.
