Common Name The Green & White Encyclia

This is a small sized, warm to hot growing epiphytic species from the Guianas, Brazil Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia in wet montane rainforests and found at altitudes of 50 to 1300 meters, with fusiform to ovoid, rugose pseudobulbs partially enveloped below by scarious sheaths and carrying 2 to 3, apical, narrowly oblong-lorate, obtuse to shortly acute, coriaceous, glossy leaves that are clasping at the base and blooms on an apical, to 12" [30 cm]long, simple, racemose, loosely few flowered inflorescence with fragrant, waxy, long-lasting, inverted flowers subtended by a scarious sheath arising on a mature, fusiform to ovoid, bifoliate pseudobulb with leaves that clasp the inflorescence, that appears in the late summer and fall and has fragrant flowers held to just above leaf height.
