Common Name Fowlie's Encyclia [American orchid enthusiast and botanist current]

Flower Size 1 1/4" [3 cm]

Found in Bahia Brazil in Atlantic coastal rainforests at elevations of 200 to 500 meters as a medium sized, hot to cool growing epiphyte on branches near the tree tops, in bright places with spherical pseudobulbs enveloped basally by several evanescent sheaths carrying 1 to 2, apical, coriaceous, smooth, narrowly lanceolate leaves and blooms in the summer in Brazil on a terminal, erect, to 3'6" [to 105 cm] long, paniculate, several [to 15] flowered inflorescence with lanceolate stem clasping bracts and well spaced, very showy, tea-scented flowers
