Common Name Small-flowered or Alata-like Encyclia

Flower Size 1 1/2" or less, Fragrance

A Mexican and Nicaraguan, hot growing, epiphytic or occasional terrestrial species from the eastern coasts in dry forests at elevations of 100 to 800 meters with a pseudobulb enveloped by sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, linear-ligulate, obtuse leaves that bloom in the late spring and early summer on a 18" long, racemose, several flowered, paniculate inflorescence with fragrant flowers.

Often cited as a synonym of E alata but separate until more information becomes available.
