Found in the hot lowland areas of Guatemala, Belize, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Coata Rica, Panama, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Venezuela and Trinidad occuring in dry deciduous to semideciduous forests at elevations of sealevel to 1000 meters as a medium sized, hot growing epiphyte with large, oval, ridged, compressed, dark green mottled purple-brown psuedobulbs subtended by caducous bracts with two apical, elliptic leaves that are apically rounded or obtuse that blooms in the fall through the spring with a raceme or panicle that has a basal, erect or arching, to 4' [120 cm] long, many to few flowered inflorescence arising as the new growth matures.
