Flower Size 4.4 to 6.4" [12 to 16 cm]

This is a medium sized, terrestrial and rarely epiphytic species with 4 to 6, narrowly linear-oblong, somewhat fleshy, rounded and tridenticulte at the apex, clear green, glabrous leaves found in New Guinea from sea level to 1700 meters and is a hot to warm growing, late spring and summer, multifloral bloomer on a finely pubescent, to 12 to 20" [30 to 50 cm] long, purple to greenish brown inflorescence with an oval, acute, pale yellow green with purple striped floral bract that is 1/2 to 2/3 of the ovary and carries up to 5 flowers. The species in the photo herein is most probably Paphiopedilum praestans as glanduliferum has a unicolor flower and has not been seen since it was described in 1848. according to Braeme and Baker.
