
The many stems of this palm from southern China f orm a dense clump
up to 15 ft (4.5 m) tall.
The leaves, light to rich green, divide into 5 to 8 stiff,
finger-like segments.
The tiny, bowl-shaped, creamy flowers rise in dense spikes from the
clump.
It will grow outside in warm climates, but slowly; its leaves may
burn in full sun.
Flowering colors: Cream
Cultivation: These frost-tender palms are often grown in tubs, as
ornamental clumps, or as hedges outdoors in warm, humid climates.
Elsewhere they are favorite house plants.
They require some shade and rich, moist soil.
They are usually propagated by dividing a clump but can be
reproduced from seed. |
