Family:IridaceaeTrimezia

The walking irises or toad-cups (Neomarica species) are members of
the Iridaceae, the iris family. Neomarica are native to western
Africa and South America; there are fifteen known species. In
tropical areas, these shade-loving plants make great substitutes for
iris.
The yellow walking iris blooms from spring to late autumn. The
inflorescence arises from the base. When each inflorescence is
finished flowering, it produces plantlets and arches toward the
ground. The plantlets root and will bloom in a year. |
