Chrysalidocarpus lutensis
Butterfly palm Palem kuning Palmae

Chrysalidocarpus lutensis, Butterfly palm, Palm kuning

Chrysalidocarpus lutensis, Butterfly palm, Palm kuningThis species is one of the most widely cultivated ornamental palms.
It is a clump-forming feather palm with fairly short fronds that arch elegantly from cane-like stems 10-20 ft (3-6 m) high.
The basal sheaths and frond stalks are yellow and the fronds themselves are yellowish in sun but when grown in shade are a beautiful light green.
It responds well to container cultivation and can be grown as a house plant.
Cultivation: Plant in moist, well-drained soil in sun or light shade.
Water freely, keep soil slightly moist all year.
Propagate from seed in spring; seeds can take up to 5 months to germinate.
