
Indigenous to the West Indies and Peru, this narrow-domed, evergreen
tree grows to 20 ft (6 m) tall with a spread of 6 ft (1.8 m).
Its glossy green leaves are mostly unlobed; bright red,
funnel-shaped flowers are grouped in clusters towards the ends of
the branches.

Cultivation : They do best in full sun, but will tolerate light
shade, and need fertile, humus-rich, well-drained soil.
