Jasminum sambac, Arabian jasmine, MelatiThis small, fairly weak evergreen climber grows to only 10 ft (3 m). A frost-tender species, it has large, glossy green leaves, and for most of the year bears sweetly perfumed, white flowers. In China the flowers are used for perfuming green tea, while in India they are commonly seen in garlands. There is a double-flowered form called Grand Duke of Tuscanyt which is slow growing and reaches a height of 6 ft (1.8 m).

Cultivation : Some species are moderately frost hardy in temperate climates, although most thrive best in subtropical to tropical areas. Plant in full sun in fertile, moist but well-drained soil. Prune as required after flowering. Propagate from cuttings in summer.
